Ethiopia is an anchor state in the Horn of Africa and a regional and continental diplomatic and economic hub. As host of the African Union headquarters, it plays a central role in continental security, mediation, trade, and geopolitical relations. It is also a key actor in Nile Basin politics, while internal conflicts and tensions with neighbours, including Eritrea, continue to shape regional instability.
