Our Centre

Six specialised centers driving evidence-based research, policy analysis, and strategic thinking across the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region.

The Centre for Defence and Security advances strategic analysis of defence challenges and evolving security threats across the Horn of Africa, from conventional armed conflict to the rapid proliferation of drone warfare. It translates real-time security developments into actionable policy insights for governments and security practitioners through its research, programs, and the annual Horn of Africa Security Dialogue

EXPLORE CENTRE

The Centre provides a platform for research and analytical appraisals of the diverse diplomatic and foreign policy choices of Horn countries that directly or indirectly influence interstate relations in the Horn of Africa. From bilateral ties to multilateral frameworks and regional integration efforts.

EXPLORE CENTRE

The Centre for Governance, Statecraft and Conflict Management conducts evidence-based research on institutional resilience, political transitions, and peacebuilding dynamics in the Horn of Africa. It supports governments and practitioners navigating governance crises through rigorous analysis and structured capacity-building programs

EXPLORE CENTRE

The Centre for Transnational Crimes and Strategic Threats examines cross-border illicit networks, asymmetric security challenges, and emergent threats shaping the Horn of Africa’s security landscape. Its work connects the dots between criminal economies, armed group activity, and maritime threats, contributing to stronger regional and national responses to transnational crime

EXPLORE CENTRE

The Centre for the Study of Terrorism, Violent Extremism and Radicalization analyses the drivers of radicalisation and the dynamics of violent extremism across the Horn of Africa, combining rigorous research with direct programmatic action. Through initiatives such as the Prevention of Terrorism Program and the INFORM Initiative, it delivers evidence-based counter-narrative and community-level prevention interventions tailored to the region’s unique socio-cultural and political landscape

EXPLORE CENTRE

The Centre for Climate Change, Migration, and Development analyses the intersecting pressures of environmental shocks, forced displacement, and socio-economic vulnerability across the Horn of Africa. It produces research and policy frameworks that support climate resilience and inform responses to the region’s growing climate-driven humanitarian challenges
