International Conference on Africa-Middle East Relations: Shared Peace. Shared Security. Shared Prosperity

African and Middle Eastern countries have been relating with each other socio-culturally, economically, and religiously for centuries. This relationship has been relatively stable and uneventful and occasionally interrupted by occasional conflicts in the Middle East that has often spilt over to Africa. However, over the past 10 years, there has been increased bilateral and multilateral political, security, and economic engagements between the two regions. These engagements have been informed in part by geopolitical and geostrategic calculations as well as realities such as Africa’s ‘youth bulge,’ and increasing food security needs of some Middle Eastern countries.

To assess the nature, extent, and potential impact of the increasing engagements, the HORN Institute will convene and an International Conference on Africa-Middle East Relations. The Conference will be held in Nairobi on August 25-26, 2021. Participation will be by invitation. Please visit the HORN Institute website or contact the Institute through conference@horninstitute.org for more information.
