ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Democracy, Governance and Rule of Law Program advances research and policy engagement on democratic resilience, accountable governance, and institutional integrity across the Horn of Africa and Great Lakes region.

It focuses on key areas such as constitutional processes, electoral systems, judicial independence, anti-corruption frameworks, and civic participation. Through policy briefs, expert dialogues, capacity building trainings and strategic advisory outputs, the program engages governments, civil society, and international partners to strengthen the evidence base for democratic reform in the region.

The programs aim is to promote context-sensitive reforms aimed at reinforcing public trust, upholding the rule of law, and strengthening democratic institutions as foundations for sustainable peace and development.
