George Kabugi Gikonyo is a retired Brigadier General with thirty-seven years of military experience in Kenya and Africa. He has served as head of Kenya Military Training and Advisory Team to Rwanda, a military observer in UN Mission in Liberia and a Kenyan Defence Attaché to Ethiopia, Djibouti, African Union, UNECA and IGAD. Previously, the Head of Teaching Team at the Kenya Defence College and a team member, drafting Policy Framework and operating concept for Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF).
He has served as a Sector Commander of the UN Mission to South Sudan (UNMISS) and a Team Leader, Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMM) in South Sudan. He helped develop reconciliation concepts between warring communities, peace initiatives and ceasefire programs in support of the Agreement to the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan (ARCSS) and the Cessation of Hostility Agreement (COHA).
Brig.–Gen. Kabugi holds a diploma in International Studies from the University of Nairobi and
he is currently pursuing Public Policy and Administration at Kenyatta University.
